Supply Chain Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Flexibly Chain - Assignment Example For this situation our ideal yields are burgers with the entirety of the fixings, rascals, and ribs, subsequently the contributions to this case would incorporate different elements for setting them up, for example, meat, cooking oil, garlic and even peppers. The flexibly chain in this given circumstance would incorporate providers who will deal with providing all the fixings and types of gear, and the wholesalers who will guarantee that those fixings and supplies are securely moved to the arena. Because of the way that I was given the errand to simply guarantee that all the fixings are securely acquired and moved to the arena for the gathering, I emphatically suggest this sort of gracefully chain since we don’t need a maker to set up the burgers for us. We just need the fixings and the hardware and the rest would likely arrive to see that everything is set up after they have been moved to the arena. The advantages of this flexibly chain would include: decreased expenses since the component of producer have been disposed of and the way that the arena is only close to our home, the expenses of capacity would most likely be killed; simple observing since the gracefully chain just includes the providers and merchants and presumably my house is going to fill in as the store making it simple for me to screen the fixings; vital choices can be taken midway; no redistributing of experts is required to deal with the flexibly chain and no commercialization of completed items is required since the items would simply be devoured at the gathering in the arena. (Bowersox, 2007) So as to guarantee that this gracefully chain gives a smooth running of assets, it would include extra experienced work force who will predict that quite a few fixings and hardware have been provided. This would likewise guarantee that they are provided in right amounts to keep away from deficiencies at the gathering. Stock ought to be checked at the purpose of conveyance to guarantee that the provisions truly

Animals and Call Of The Wild - Free Essay Example

Some say animals are the companions of humans while others argue they are to be used by humans for food or other purposes. In current society we see ongoing debate about the topic of animals and humans place in society. At this point in time we have people who use animals for purposes of food and hunters LIke myself follow this believing in taking the animal for food that God provided. On the other hand we have groups such as PETA people for the ethical treatment of animals going against hunters and anyone else using animals in any form that may be considered negative.. So in the story The call of the wild we see different approaches to The main character Buck in the story. To begin with in the story Buck a dog and the main character in The call of the wild started off living with Judge Miller where Buck was taken care of. Judge Miller and his family treated Buck as if he was a family dog and they gave him food and all of his accensial needs. He was given everything a dog would need. So we see the treatment of Judge Miller and his family and the love they had for him. We see they treated Buck as a companion to them. Next we see Bucks Treatment after going to Howl Mercedes and Charles. He was abused beaten and starved. They treated Buck and the other dogs as if they were just to be used for profit. Howl Charles and Mercedes Then beat the dogs if they were too weak to work. There was no compassion under them and they had no respect for the dogs. Eventually after all this buck finally found compassion. A man named john thornton found him and treated him with respect. I guess you could call him by the term fair in his ways. Buck was finally treated with care again.n We see the different stages of what Buck went through. He begin in the care of Judge where he was treated good and he was cared for. Then when the new owners got him he was abused mistreated and whipped. He (Buck) went through a big transition from the abuse to then entering into the loving hands of John. These are all the different treatments (Buck) went through. This shows us the difference of actions done between humans with there reactions towards animals. This reveals what one interpretation of the theme of The call of the wild could be. We see the many different treatments of animals come from humans. Some humans are loving to animals while others mistreat animals. Then there are some who have respect for animals but use them for purposes of hunting.

Americ The Great Depression - 2977 Words

America would suffer from one of the worst financial disasters in history after the stock market crash of 1929. A period in history commonly referred to as The Great Depression (1929-1939) would take the workforce by storm. The country’s unemployment rate would reach a record high leaving millions of Americans out of work or laid off by the mid 1930s (Smiley, 2014). â€Å"The Great Depression is often called a â€Å"defining moment† in the twentieth-century history of the United States. Its most lasting effect was a transformation of the role of the federal government in the economy† (Smiley, 2014). As a result, families were unable to repay debts such as farm loans and mortgages leaving financial institutions in the red and failing to recover.†¦show more content†¦This verdict was hammered home by the well-publicized demolition in 1972 of the Pruitt– Igoe project in St. Louis† (Massey Kanaiaupuni, 1993). Although most politicians viewed l arge housing complexes (projects) as a social destruction it did help to recreate new strategies for improving the housing program. America’s most impoverished populations were still struggling to maintain decent housing at an affordable rate. This dilemma prompted the federal government to seek new alternatives to help aid low-income families. â€Å"Federal support for housing since, skimpy as it is, has largely been in the form of â€Å"Section 8† vouchers and dispersed, low-density, mixed housing. The actual number of public housing units has shrunk in recent decades† (Massey Kanaiaupuni, 1993). According to the article, â€Å"it was a response to the post-war housing shortage and too many social scientists’ view at the time that poor housing itself – crowded, dilapidated quarters contributed to social dysfunction† (Massey Kanaiaupuni, 1993). The immediate need to accommodate the needy seemed to do more harm than good during the early stages of development. Politician’s immediate reaction was to fix the problem by housing multiple families and individuals in already impoverished locations and massive projects only seem to created new

Project management starts with initiation and then the planning is done with respect to the estimation of the requirements (Leach, 2014). There are different methods ofproject management like PMBOK, PRINCE2, SDLC, Waterfall and Agile. Project life cycle is also discussed with respect to one of the methodology and its process. In this report thedefinition of project management and differences between the methodologies are discussed with the project life cycle. The comparison between the PMBOK and the waterfall model is discussed in the following discussion. Definition of project management methodologies Project management methodologies are defined as the procedures of making a project successful by using different processes like defining, planning, launching, managing and closing a project (Kerzner, 2013). List of different methodologies of project management There are various types of project management methodologies and those are Agile, SDLC, Waterfall, PRINCE2 and PMBOK. Familiarisation with different project management methodologies PMBOK refers to Project management body of knowledge and it is a methodology that is used to make a project successful by using project management techniques like initialization, planning, launching, managing and closing a project. PRINCE2 refers to PROMPT II IN the CCTA Environment. It is another method which is used to manage a project in more structured way (Schwalbe, 2015). Various principles of PRINCE2 project management are experience learning, well understood roles and responsibilities, justification of business strategies. The main strategy of this methodology is to focus on products (Fleming Koppelman, 2016). SDLC refers to system development project cycle. In SDLC the also the same procedures are followed in a iterative or recycled manner. The waterfall model is one of the most popular models and it is applied to make the project done in a sequential way (Larson Gray, 2013). In this method progress is considered to flow downward like a waterfall and also consists of the steps like initiation, analysis, design, construction, testing, production or implementation, maintenance and finalisation of the project. The Agile methodology depends more upon the team work and it is the way of incremental, iterative and empirical approach to make a project successfully done. Comparison of PMBOK and Waterfall model Differences between PMBOK and Waterfall model PMBOK WATERFALL 1. This method is not sequential in nature. Different steps of the process can be designed simultaneously also. 1. Waterfall model is a sequential method. The name Waterfall also refers to the flow of difference steps in the process (Larson Gray, 2013). 2. PMBOK refers to the project management Body of Knowledge. It is not actually a method itself. 2. Waterfall refers to a methodology which is followed in case of the designing of the structure of project management. Similarities between PMBOK and WATERFALL model PMBOK WATERFALL 1. PMBOK contains different steps like starting, estimation, execution and finalising (Schwalbe, 2015). 1. Waterfall also contains many steps which are similar to the steps of PMBOK methodology (Kerzner, 2013). 2. Business development and strategic implementation are the fields of applications of the PMBOMK methodology (Fleming Koppelman, 2016). 2. Waterfall model is also used in business development and strategic implementation of different projects. Project life cycle and different methods regarding it Project management life cycle is the process of making the whole design of the project management structure. It starts from initiation and then planning, execution and finally ends by the closure of the project. It is a recycled or iterative process (Fleming Koppelman, 2016). Sometimes the components of the process may be in structure form or in a flowing form (Burke, 2013). The initiation starts the program and the planning is done to make the outline and strategies regarding the project management task. Execution is the step in which all the planning is converted into the work and the process is ended by the finalisation step. Conclusion From the above discussion it is concluded that project management contains of different methodologies and each and every method is important for the different kinds of project implementation. The differences and the comparisons are also discussed between the PMBOK and the waterfall model of project management. All the project management methodologies follow the basic steps like initiation, planning, implementation and closing. The basic difference between the PMBOK and waterfall methodology is that the waterfall method is sequential in nature. References Burke, R. (2013). Whole Foods Market Input Analysis

The Firm’s Strategy One of the major stratagems being pursued by the firm is the differentiation. The firm adopts the differentiation strategy in terms of product provision in order to enhance its competitive advantage. In fact, the firm has ensured that all its business processes including products are unique to the industry.Advertising We will write a custom assessment sample on Whole Foods Market Input Analysis specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The major driver for the strategy is the increased competence of the business associates and employees in terms of skills and capabilities (Whole Foods Market, 2013). Besides, the competitive edge depends on the degree in which the firm’s business processes are conducted. In other words, the firm carefully selects diverse brands of items that are highly valued by the customers. However, highly valued products attract high prices. Whole Foods understands the sensitivity of pr ices. As such, the firm offers its high quality food products at fair prices that clients can afford. The combination of quality and fair prices is one of the greatest competitive advantages to the firm (Whole Foods Market, 2013). As indicated, Whole Foods is different from the major competitors in terms of the prepared food brands. The firm offers a wide variety of prepared meals for lunch, dinner and desert (Martin, 2008). Clients have the options of eating on the premises or take out. Whole Foods takes advantage of the increasing number of clients that normally have their meals on the premises as high end consumers tend to look for ways of curbing spending amid a difficult economic situation (Martin, 2008). Moreover, the retail store prefers the special brands in favor of the common major delicacies found in most of the stores. Since the firm has a narrow niche of customers and few competing stores are found in most areas it operates, Whole Foods can easily scan and understand th e market. The strategies are the main contributors of the firm’s higher profit margins (Martin, 2008). How the Strategy is Aligned to Porter’s Generic Model According to Porter’s generic forces model, strategies are actions that help in the formation of invulnerable place in the industry (Porter, 1998). In other words, strategies are actions that increases the firms competitive advantage in the industry in which it operates. According to the model, the strategies can be either defensive or offensive.Advertising Looking for assessment on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Defensive strategies normally take the form of the industry and place the firm to cope with its strengths and weaknesses (Porter, 1998). On the other hand, offensive strategies transforms the underlying causes of the competitive forces and as such changes the environment in which the firm operates. Porter proposed three b road and standard strategies that the firm can utilize to generate durable defensible situations as well as increase its competitive advantage. The strategies include cost leadership, differentiation and the focus or the niche strategy (Porter, 1998). The firm’s approach fits directly with the differentiation strategy of the Porter’s model. According to the model, the differentiation strategy means offering services, products and brands that are unique to the industry (Porter, 1998). Essentially, the differentiation strategy requires that the firm creates own market niche. Approaches to the differentiation strategy include diverse product designs, brand image, variety of features and the new technology (Porter, 1998). All these approaches have been applied by Whole Foods to create its product brands together with competitive prices to create its own market niche. The differentiation strategy has contributed greatly to the growth of the firm in a highly competitive indu stry. In fact, the differentiation approach has insulated the firm from the competitive rivalry through the creation of brand loyalty and reduction of price elasticity of demand by making clients to be less sensitive to the price changes of the product (Martin, 2008). Besides, the uniqueness of the products have created barriers and the reduction of substitutes, which in effect, has led to higher margins and decreases the need for low-cost advantage (Martin, 2008). Moreover, higher margins enable the firm to handle influential suppliers. In fact, the strategy has enabled the firm to alleviate the buyer’s power since few alternatives are available to the purchasers (Whole Foods Market, 2013). The Firm’s Inputs According to the congruent model, organizational inputs are ranging from the environment to the strategies applied by the firm (Nadler Tushman, 1980). Within the continuum are inputs such as resources and the firm’s history.Advertising We will write a custom assessment sample on Whole Foods Market Input Analysis specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The resources available to the firm include human capital, technological applications, financial capital, information as well as other intangible assets. Besides, while strategy is considered the most important input in the model, it forms the link between the mentioned inputs and the system mechanism of the entire firm’s transformation process (Nadler Tushman, 1980). According to the model, environmental inputs are factors that are outside the firms influence including things that come from an institution or industry, individuals, groups as well as events (Nadler Tushman, 1980). Essentially, the environmental inputs must have a potential influence on the organization. In this case, the firm’s environmental inputs include industry research and development, suppliers and most importantly organic food consumers. Similarly, res ources include all assets that the firm can access. The resources include both human and financial capital as well as information. In addition, resources include intangible assets such as recognition by the market niche. Generally, the resource inputs are broad and normally applied by the firm to produce the desired outcome (Nadler Tushman, 1980). In terms of the input history, past decisions, activities and behavior are considered as greater effort to attain the current desired results. Essentially, these factors must have a direct influence on the existing organizational operations. Whole Foods is known for its traditional quality organic food offerings, which the firm exploit to increase its competitive advantage. Whether the Inputs are Congruent to the Strategy According to the congruent model, the firm’s strategy is the stream of decisions concerning the manner in which the inputs or the organizational resources are transformed to meet the needs of the clients. Besides, strategies are involving the way the firm’s resources are configured to deal with limitations as well as prospects available to the firm within the context of the patterns of the past behavior (Nadler Tushman, 1980). In order to attain the desired results, the inputs have to fit within the strategies. Essentially, aligning the firm’s inputs to the strategies is critical for increased performance and success.Advertising Looking for assessment on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More As indicated, the congruent model argues that the inputs have to be aligned to the strategies in order to increase performance (Nadler Tushman, 1980). In other words, the level of performance would depend on the degree of congruity of the firm’s inputs to the strategy. In this case, the resource inputs fit greatly to the firm’s strategy. Whole Foods has used all its resources in order to ensure increased competitive advantage. In other words, the inputs are aligned to the firm’s strategy to attain the desired competitive advantage. Essentially, the firm’s resources are highly utilized to increase the performance of the strategy. In fact, the firm has ensured that all its resources are aligned to the strategic goal of ensuring increased competitive advantage. In other words, the firm’s resources greatly fit with the organization’s strategy. Besides, the firm has fully utilized its human resources to attain the desired product brands. Similar ly, the capital resources including financial and other assets have been fully utilized to ensure that the specialized and unique food products are produced to meet the client needs. The target clients’ acceptability of the products confirms the congruity of the resources to the strategy. The environmental inputs available to the firm including clients have a greater degree of congruity to the strategy of differentiation. The differentiation strategy aims at increasing the target customer value. Within the context of Whole Foods Market, clients and suppliers are considered as individual inputs. The contribution of the suppliers and consumers remains critical in the product development and distribution. However, in terms of suppliers, the differentiation strategy has ensured a drastic reduction of supplier’s power, which in turn has resulted in increasing the firm’s performance. Essentially, the firm’s environmental resources are highly congruent to its st rategy. However, the history inputs fairly fit with the current differentiation strategy. The firm barely utilizes its historical resources in the determination of the current product offerings. Nevertheless, some of the effective decisions that were made before form the basis of the current strategy. References Martin, A. (2008, August 2). Whole Foods looks for a fresh image in lean times. Writing Sample Essay

Writing Sample Essay Writing Sample Essay The book â€Å"Fifty Shades of Grey, by E.L. James,† is the first book of its kind to reach popular culture. Although there are a lot of stimulating fiction novels that exist, one has to ask what was it that caused this series to hit top-seller all around the world and turn out to be a sensational hit? Many people in the world and critics claim to say that the book was incompetently written and is a literary disaster, however it’s fame, success, and popularity cannot be overlooked. With the media calling the trilogy â€Å"Mommy porn† and feminists arguing it’s negative repercussions in regards to male dominance and female subordination, E.L. James has caused quite the controversy with this series. I found this trilogy appealing because aside from all the negativity and positivity I heard from it, I wanted to see for myself what was the fuss about this book. When I first started to read the trilogy almost two years ago, I remember saying to myself that this book was going to be a about a sappy love story like Nicholas Sparks. After reading a couple of pages, I knew that this book was nothing like a Nicholas Sparks novel. Aside from all the uncensored sex scenes, it has it’s similarities. I noted that this trilogy was written in first person narration from the view of the protagonist. Anastasia Steele whom is the protagonist, is an innocent, beautiful, smart, young woman fresh out of college. Her sexual experience is non-existent, particularly in comparison with the sex crazed,
